Radwell Lake and meadows

I have been very remiss recently due to being so busy so have only been on short walks, very locally.
Today I decided to visit Radwell meadows and Lake in Hertfordshire. It incorporates parts of The Letchworth Greenway and The Kingfisher Way. There are various parts to walk through including fields, tracks, woodland, meadows, wetlands and a lake.

Someone has a sense of humour!

As usual I spotted a variety of wildlife including the usual birds and mammals but also a shrew (I'd never seen a live one before) and a very close encounter with a large swan.

As I was sitting on a seat I heard a strange loud slap, slap, slap sound and when I turned round this monster of a swan was looming over me, I was even more surprised when it hissed at me so I moved slowly away so as not to upset it.

Today's walk was only about 3 miles or so but as it was so hot it would have been unpleasant to walk much further.
