Last minute walk

As the sun was shining I decided to go on a local walk today. I live in Hertfordshire and there is some lovely local countryside.

Cute bridge over the old mill stream.

The stream flows under and by the railway so lots of interesting structures.

Destroying the countryside so trains can turn round!

Colourful beehives (?) by the stream.

Gerry's Hole is a conservation area maintained by the local landowner. It exists due to the soil that was excavated to build the train track in the 1980's. Its named after a local man who drowned there after a visit to his local! It is currently a very important habitat for frogs and newts.

Chalk hills and farm land.

I also spotted a muntjac deer but was not fast enough with my camera.

Back to the meadow and stream at the start of the 8 (and a bit) mile loop.

Zakk waiting for my return!
